Another evening at the waterfront

It's almost a routine now to go to the waterfront in the late afternoon, armed with enough coffee to keep the whole city awake through the night and a book. I am reading Clare Sambrook's excellent Hide & Seek, the story of a family, who's youngest member goes missing on a school trip to Legoland. The story is told from the point of view of the older brother, who's himself only nine years old. It's moving, disturbing and at the same time funny.

Tonight I do not just have a coffee, I also have a muffin. And this turns out to be the object of desire for this fellow:

He circles me and comes closer and closer...

But I will have to disappoint him. The muffin is mine.
